It has been amazing connecting with supporters from around the world online, at conventional shows around the United States and in some new indie settings at random places such as a winery in Ohio or a Garden Party in LA. I try to listen as best I can, and try and understand what supporters really value. In this new INDIE music world I find myself so excited playing new music and at the prospects for development in our loved industry.

I am sure you have by now heard of awesome forums such as Kickstarter and Pledge music. They are wonderfully innovative ideas. Here at philmarshallofficial.com this is my HQ, this is my forum, my shop floor if you like.

It costs a bunch to write, record, promote, and tour records, without the supporters I couldn't do this. Yes I can continue in my art, to create, and leave thoughts and sound behind for my great grand children to explore, but to really make a difference in my own life time, well this is a team effort.

I thank you all for your continuing support.

I am excited to make new records over the coming months, and cannot wait for 2013. Please come along for the ride! Please hit the menu PHILstarter

San Antonio Charline Mccombs EMPIRE THEATER Full Band Show October 13th

A bit ago someone asked me if I might be interested in doing a co-write, something usually practiced squarely within the realm of the music industry. I had recently auctioned off a song-write at a Charity Event in Washington DC and I discovered there were music listeners and enthusiasts that wanted to do ore than just buy a finished product or go to a show. This someone who asked me to do the co-write had been to a few shows and was blown away, she had played in orchestras when she was younger, but her music and piano playing took a back seat through her personal and professional journey as a Mother and leading OBGYN respectively.
It had again become time to create music and work with someone who might get it. This lady is Sue Crockett, and she thought that I might be the guy that got it.
Well, I got it.
Sue subsequently engaged me to co-write and produce a few songs for her, It has been a blast and I think there are some really great piece that we captured.
Everything I do, I do seriously, and this wouldn't be any different. It has been a great movement from what is known in the Industry as Direct To Fan Marketing. I genuinely love working with the audience and the fans, not just in a great show attendance, but in creating and sustaining this art too. We are on this journey together.
The Vergence Project was born out of this, an outlook, a set of ideas that may or may not work, and an ability to develop other artists by working with a great team, and directly with fans.
The Vergence Project has created a great record which will release on Itunes on 10/11/12.

This release is named "Ambergris".
The songs are deep and layered, it has beeen great to mess with sounds and subjects and it's nice to see the common threads of my music come through in yet another creative piece.

The Vergence Project Release Concert will be on Saturday October 13th at the Charlene Mccombs EMPIRE THEATER in downtown San Antonio Texas right by the Riverwalk. It's gonna be a super night!

That's How We Roll (June 1st 2012) [6:33]
Some time back in Washington DC I played in support of the Race For Hope campaign. It was a fantastic gig and I auctioned off the opportunity for someone to have a song written for them by me. A wonderful lady won this auction and I hoped I could write a song which would speak on many levels. It was to speak of her own personal loss of her late husband, and with this I wanted it to make us think of those we have lost, while at the same time speak of the beauty that exists in our every day and the light that truly exists at the end of the tunnel. No easy task I know, but I think I came close... "That's How We Roll"...

My Little Girl (ATX Mix) [6:18]
When expecting my little girl Mahela I came up with this little tune. Something she can listen to when she's a bit older. I tracked in Austin with Yellowdog, Dave played, Josh did, Adam Odor threw some bass down. The great fiddle player Jeremy Watkins was in the studio on a Jason Boland session so I asked him if he'd play on the track and he did. Sounded great all in all, I went for Phil Marshall Indie Rock meets celtic americana, & I think I got it. As the music grows and I play with styles I become more and more excited about the next full length record I produce.

ENERGY (from the Austin e.p.) Release Date TBD [3:10]
This is a track from sessions recorded as the Austin e.p. in my home of Austin Texas, I was laying down some piano at YellowDog on SoCo and the amazing Jake Langley was hanging out with us. I think we were talking about Harrison and Ravi Shankar and Jake suggested he could nip and grab his electric sitar and lay some of that down, it didn't take any convincing me because the guys a badass. Also the great Kim Deschamps local ATX hero got all dark on his equipment and added to the great texture in the track. So that was that really and now you have this cool sounding version of Energy.
